Life Insurance
Buying life insurance is about you and protecting the ones you love. It is not just a benefit for you’re family if you die. It also can be a very powerful tool to help your family build net worth. With the right policy you can become your own banker to eliminate debt and build a legacy for your children and grandchildren. You could also use it to fund college, enhance your retirement or support your favorite charity. It can also fund your Long Term Care, if necessary.
We're here to help you do that by answering your questions, simplifying the purchase process, and ensuring the policy you choose provides the best value for your money.
Health Insurance
The term health insurance is generally used to describe a form of insurance that pays for medical expenses. Health insurance is, basically, a promise by an insurance company or health plan to provide or pay for health care services in exchange for payment of premiums. It provides financial protection in the even to sickness or injury. It will also allow you to predict what your care will cost, when needed, so you can budget for the best advantage.
Today's medical technology can do amazing things, but it is very expensive. Few families are prepared for a major medical disaster. Non-catastrophic, routine health care, wellness and preventive care can also stretch a family's budget. Some employers offer group policies that are very affordable, but for others without that option private insurance is the only choice. Your agent can help you sort thru the myriad of choices to find the best plans for your medical needs and your family's budget.
Long Term Care
When we say Long Term Care most people think "nursing home" and have a picture of an ugly place full of drooling old people. Today Long Term Care insurance actually refers to a wide range of services provided to those with a chronic illness or disability.
Assistance may be required by an individual when they are not personally capable of performing the activities of independent living such as eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, continence, or transferring. Long-term care may also be needed if the individual requires care and substantial supervision due to a severe cognitive impairment, like with Alzheimer’s. Or help may be needed while you are recovering from an extreme illness, surgery or an accident.
The premiums do get more expensive as you get older so most people choose long-term-care insurance when they are in their 50’s, however, think of Christopher Reeves and Michael J Fox who were both incapacitated in their 40’s. Insurance is the protection you need when the unexpected happens.
Disability
If you are injured at work you probably have workmen’s compensation insurance, that you and your employer have paid into, to cover a percentage of the wages you would lose while you are off work. However, workmen’s compensation policies are not obligated to pay claims for disability that are not job-related. If you are not covered at work, maybe because you are self-employed you should also consider this type of insurance.
Private disability insurance is available to cover these risks. The question is "How would I pay for my living expenses if I became unable to work?" Workmen’s compensation does not completely replace your income so additional coverage may also be necessary to maintain your responsibilities.
There are huge differences in premiums and benefits from different companies. Factors like length of waiting period, amount of benefit, and premiums can vary a great deal. Neither the cheapest, nor the most expensive policy may be the best choice for you. Your agent can help you design a plan that best fits your budget and meets the needs of you and your family.
Medicare Advantage or Supplements
At 65 most Americans are eligible for Medicare. This is a government sponsored program to provide health care to seniors. It also often applies to the physically disabled. Unfortunately, Medicare does not cover all of your medical expenses.
Medicare supplement plans and Medicare Advantage plans are available to cover most of these out of pocket expenses. They are plans provided by private insurance companies at little or no cost to the individual, depending on their health status and needs, Both types of plans offset co-pays and other out of pocket expenses plus add additional benefits that are not covered by original Medicare. It can also reduce your out of pocket costs for medical care and health education.
Your agent will guide you thru the steps and do the research to find the plan that is best for you. The programs are strictly controlled by the Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services to insure that seniors are not taken advantage of or sold what they don’t need.
Senior Diabetes Care
Most people who have diabetes also have additional related health problems. For Seniors who are on Medicare there are products available at no cost to them that can help them manage their diabetes more effectively so they can remain healthier and live a more active life with their families and friends. Your care coordinators will provide education, meter upgrades, home delivery of supplies so you don't have to make extra trips to the pharmacy, and guidance along with your doctor’s instructions so you can maintain a healthy active, life. Many plans have zero premium
for these additional services.
